Workouts to Avoid if You're Trying to Lose Weight
If you are new to exercise, if you haven't worked out for a long time, if you are obese or if you have an injury to accommodate then doing too much too soon is a huge mistake. In fact, it's one of the most common workout mistakes cited by experts. Not only do you put yourself at risk for injury and exhaustion, but you deny yourself the opportunity to realize some of the most important benefits of exercise, like renewed energy and mastery of new skills.
Over the past several months, I've seen people sign up for marathons, begin CrossFit training, or join bootcamp programs to lose weight.

Healthy Monday Tip: Learn to Relax to Lose Weight
Chill Out to Slim Down, Says Study
A new study published in Complimentary Therapies in Medicine revealed that when overweight and obese participants took part in a program that included mind-body training for relaxation they showed improvement in weight, BMI (body mass index) and body circumference measurements. The study was small in scope, but taking part in relaxation classes like yoga or tai chi carries no harmful side effects and it may offer a helpful alternative for people who are struggling with the weight loss process.
Can Yoga Cause Weight Loss?
There are many good reasons to take a yoga class or participate in a mind-body program.

The Death Of Clanging & Banging
AND OLDIE, BUT A GOODIE:
I have been lifting weights on and off since I was 12 years old. I will never forget the day my Mom and Dad purchased my first weightlifting set from Sears. I hurriedly opened the box containing the 110pounds of plastic covered cement and the iron barbell with the plastic sleeves in which the ends came off to use as dumbbells. I was in heaven, it was that day I began pumping plastic. A few years later, I

Comments (1)See All PostsSharePrevNextLeave a CommentCommentsJanuary 1, 2014 at 5:03 pm(1) Jamie Duguid says:Great content, it’s refreshing to see a correct approach to setting new year’s resolutions by focusing on proper goal setting (SMART). I wrote my first blog article today
http://itstartswith10.com/2014/01/01/why-you-shouldnt-be-exercising/
and it covers the great misconception that exercise is all you need to lose weight when in actuality our diet controls the majority of the process (at least initially). I’m actually finishing an ebook and SMART goal setting is something I identified as critical towards my individual success. Its really cool to see other people identify that too.
I certainly look forward to reading through more of your material. As a former fat guy, thanks for the (good) info!
